When I was younger the thought of putting money into an account that I couldn't touch until I was in my 50s seemed ridiculous. If you've got the money--do it. I didn't start until I was in my late 50s and while I'm comfortably off I wish I had started earlier.

It compounds a lot better when you start young. I wish I would have started earlier then when I did. But I guess that is part of being young.

It is tough to do when you are young because young people need money to get started in life. Twenty dollars a week over five years is $5,000, plus the interest it compounds though.
